Remember My Eight Suitcases?

I’ve got an essay up online (and in today’s print issue) at the Christian Science Monitor about paring down. The last three grafs are a surprise addition and were not part of the original essay. They must have needed to fill a gap!

CSM — wowie! Off to read the article. Maybe I can get some packing hints. We’re off in Nov. to spend Thanksgiving with my parents in NYC. They have tons of stuff to send home with us, including boxes of books and two portable typewriters. Fortunately, Air Canada just lifted the fees on second pieces of luggage, and fortunately, there ARE five of us!

I’ve moved 6 times with my dh, and each time we’ve had more stuff to move. Of course, we have had 3 kids in the meantime, but each time I swear we will PARE IT DOWN. We do, for a while. But we need those constant purges to keep the clutter low.

Seven cookie sheets, eh? I have 2! And I’m weirdly devoted to culinary activities (no throwing cookie sheets now). Ooh, saying that made me wish I had more cookie sheets…must stop now, must stop now.
