I’m looking ahead to two full days without my children, and find myself wondering what to do with myself. I have a certain desire to be productive, but I’m kind of reveling in wandering in the solitude and quiet. Maybe being productive isn’t all it’s cracked up to be.

I just had 2 days (last Thurs, Fri) mostly child-free, and I allowed myself to just putter. I got things done, but not with the madwoman insanity I would normally pressure myself to knock it all down with…some things got done and I relaxed and read a lot. Even took a nap. Lovely, lovely, lovely.

I definitely agree that being productive can be overrated. Enjoy your time, Kris!

Oh, Kris. You know how I love to have those days when the “rest of them” go camping for a day or two. I get lucky often in the summer.
I usually manage to get a few things accomplished all in one sitting (that’s the BEST!) but I read OH SO MUCH too. And then fall into that damn guilt trap later, promising myself I won’t feel guilty NEXT time.
You want mine, if’n you get lonely? ![]()

My kids were away last week, and I had Big Plans to do an awful lot of things, but in the end all I did was wander around bookstores, clothes stores, and places where they sell old signs. I didn’t even garden I was so fully occupied. And when Richard came home I asked HIM where dinner was. It was completely unlike me and absolutely delightful. But I got nothing done.
Have a lovely time out.

That productivity thing is way over-rated. Have fun!
