We have snow on three of our Hawai’i island mountains this morning and Haleakala on Maui is blanketed nicely as well. It’s 17 degrees up on the summit. The cold air blowing down from the mountains means it’s chillier here than usual, and frankly, we’re not set up for chilly! This kind of weather calls for a wood stove. My socks, sweats, and sweatshirts are getting a good workout this week, even if I’m not.

I can counter that, Kris, since it was 17 degrees here in my backyard with a windchill of 5!

Heehee, you KNEW I’d reply to this … we’ve got snow on the mountains too — OH WAIT! I LIVE in the mountains, that’s right! Silly me. It’s a bit warmer than 17 but not all that much, and my THERMALS are getting a workout this week (I’m not personally getting a workout either, so we’re even there).
I can NOT wait until June!

Oh, you guys, I KNOW it’s way colder where you’re at - and I don’t envy you. (And have you seen Becky’s pics over at Farm School? Yikes!)
But we are completely unprepared for this - no space heater, no wood stove, no thermals! We are even slim on blankets. When the temperature drops to a certain point, I’m used to taking measures to maintain warmth - I haven’t needed the skills or supplies for that thus far here! Hubby is scheduled to head up the mountain to work for a couple of months and my task has been to find thermals and winter wear for him. Yeah, right. Aloha shirts, certainly. Thermals? No way.

Hey, what’s happening over there? I thought you just sent me some nice warm Hawaiian sunshine last week! Oops, guess some of our cold winter weather flew over to you. Sending you some virtual hot chocolate.
