A Little Niche on the Web

Since August, my fifteen-year-old son’s website has blossomed and is currently getting between 1,500 - 2,000 hits each day (go check it out - it’s the top link, here). It’s done with a simple WordPress format, but considering that at the beginning of last year he had no clue about any of this stuff, I’m still impressed. He has largely taught himself how to put this site together, with lots of trial and error, a little uploading help from me, and some hand holding from a web savvier friend. Please note that with the website comes another crucial skill - writing. It’s all wrapped up together, this whole learning thing. Next up, he’s trying to figure out how to turn the site into a money maker. Economics, anyone?

That is very awesome. :) Is he interested in running ads? I have some advice. :D he’s got excellent traffic for it.

I envy his traffic! ;)

Some Google ads could work wonders, at least in terms of paying for all his online expenses.

Wow! That’s impressive! 1500-2000 hits a day??

He found a great untapped niche. Bravo!

Wow! I’ve been blogging since 1998 and have only once for one week had that kind of traffic after a Dooce link. Dang!

I think this is where I’m supposed to say he’s “Too cool for school!”

Awesome! Thanks for sharing and good luck with that monetizing. I’ve had mixed results with that, too.

Hey! I’ve seen your son’s blog…. but I didn’t know it was his! I just loved the sound of the ukulele. And I liked the fact that he put videos on his blog. I like videos :-)
I think it’s so cool that he gets so many hits!
