Speaking of Getting Creative

I attended a wreath making workshop hosted by my local library last weekend. The first day was spent gathering materials in a small ohia forest on a dry lava bed. The trees were only about as tall as I am, so it was not shaded and very hot. On day number two, we put together the wreaths, which are made on a straw base. Here’s how mine turned out (can you believe there are only three different kinds of plant material?):

This was one of those projects that turned out beautifully, in spite of the fact that I’d never done this before. I love projects like that!

Oohh! It’s so pretty!
You did a great job! And it’s very Christmassy without traditional Christmas greenery.

All I have to say is, Wow. It is so beautiful! Oh, and one more thing … so you got hot. You aren’t complaining, I hope. Says the person who has had a fire blazing in the fireplace since, oh, September. :)

Shelly, ME? Complain about not needing to sit by a fire to keep warm?? Well, maybe I complained a teensy, tiny bit when we were out in the heat. Not even complained. I *remarked* about the warmth while we were out in the heat. Just remarked. Because the warmth was quite remark worthy.

Andrea, Robin. You wouldn’t believe how EASY this project was. A bit time consuming, but very easy.

Oh, I can believe it’s easy - made one like this with fabric squares before. I just don’t have any plant matter near as pretty around me. Or any plant matter. :D
