I know you said to only comment on one book, but if nobody comments for Atherton, I wouldn’t mind being in the mix for that, either. Then you could give Middle Son to someone on the longer list. Once again, kudos for passing on such great reads!

I seem to be in the midst of a very cultural reading list, and I’m enjoying it immensely. ‘A Thousand Splendid Suns’ is on the list! I’ve got a number of novels in this category that will be up for grabs in coming months.

It is so important to be aware of how our culture treats those that are deemed “less than.” What this government did to Japanese-Americans and what is being done to Arab-Americans is a travesty. Middle Son sounds like one to read.
I just finished Lottery, another good read.

‘Middle Son’ looks like a great read to me.
I just finished reading ‘A Thousand Splendid Suns,” by Khaled Hosseini. Omg… It was SO enlightening. I fall under the category of people who are ignorant of the way other cultures really live, but I’m trying to rectify that. I knew life was harder in the Arab countries, but this book brought tears to my eyes…..many times.
