Pay it Forward Book Exchange

I’m amending this post. The rules are a bit confusing. I thought so last night, but assumed it was just my tired brain. This morning, they still look confusing! It’s simple. To enter to win a book (this month, a Smart Lab), simply post a comment.  If you win, the organizers ask that you “Pay it Forward”. That’s it. Now, go comment! Tell your friends! Books are good!

I love this idea! I found it on my Jacket Flap via Kelly and Cloudscome, but the idea originated here. I’ve taken the liberty of editing a couple of the rules [in brackets]. Here’s how it works:

1) Once a month I’ll pick a book to give away to one lucky reader (you don’t have to have a blog to enter). It may be a book that I’ve purchased new or used, or it may be a book that someone has shared with me that I really like. It’ll probably be a paperback, just to make things easier, but no guarantees.

2) Details on how you can enter to win will be listed below.

3) If you’re the lucky winner of the book giveaway I ask that you, in turn, host a drawing to give that book [or another one] away for free to one of your readers, after you’ve had a chance to read it (let’s say, within a month after you’ve received the book). If you mail the book out using the media/book rate that the post office offers it’s pretty inexpensive.

4) If you’re really motivated and want to host your own “Pay It Forward” giveaway at any time, feel free to grab the button above to use on your own blog. Just let her know so she can publish a post plugging your giveaway and directing readers your way!

This week I’ll be giving away a brand-spanking new SmartLab from the folks at Chronicle Books. It’s a book. It’s a game. It’s a great way to keep kids occupied during long car trips. Oh, and they’ll learn something, too!

To enter:

Leave me a comment that you’d like to win, and agree to the rules set out above.

I’ll do the drawing for the lucky winner at the end of the day on Friday.

Kris, thanks for hosting your own PIF Book Exchange giveaway. I’m not going to enter your giveaway because my little guy is only 2 1/2 and I want your book to go to someone who has a child in the right age group, but I am linking you on my PIF post.

Thanks for entering my second Pay It Forward Book Exchange! I’ll throw your name in the hat for “The Road” that I’m giving away.

Check back on Saturday morning when I’ll draw and announce the winner!

Kris, glad you are jumping in this game! I think it is a brilliant idea. I am not joining your give away because I got a review copy of that book this week. My 5 year old is having fun with it.

I think I’ll start a new section of my bookshelves for circulating Pay It Forward books. I hope this spreads far and wide!

Hey, so if I ask to be entered and I win, can I just pass on a book to someone I know around here? ‘Cuz you know I don’t have a blog and all … Casey has one of these and loves it and I’m sure little sister would dig this one. I’m just not sure if I qualify to enter. :)

What a great idea! A continuation of what my lovely husband of many years calls : the world’s largest cashless society–mother’s with children.

Shelly, no blog necessary, and I’ll interpret the rules to mean that yes indeed paying it forward in your town is fair game.

Anyone else? The end of the day fast approaches and the odds are looking good for these ladies.
